Herbicidal Effect of Different Alternative Compounds to Control Conyza bonariensis in Vineyards

Conyza bonariensis (L.) Cronquist is a widespread noxious weed with high fecundity, associated no-till systems such as vineyards and other perennial crops in Mediterranean climates. Seeds germinate staggered flushes, which leads to great variation the growth stage between individuals same field, chemical control becomes challenging. Besides, species have evolved resistance herbicides worldwide, particularly glyphosate. Even though tillage expected provide weed-free fields, it negatively affects vineyards, causing erosion, loss of soil structure reduction organic matter or vine (shallow roots can be affected), among effects. Fuel consumption this management also very because recurrent interventions in-row tiller are required. In context, bioherbicides, defined environmentally friendly natural substances intended reduce populations, potential tool for integrated (IWM). work, herbicidal effect following six products tested on glyphosate-resistant C. population present commercial vineyards: T1, mixture acetic acid 20% fertilizer N32; T2, potassium metabisulfite pelargonic 31%; T3, 68%; T4, humic-fulvic 80%; T5, hydroxy phosphate complex; T6, metabisulfite. The results showed field efficacy T1 T4 (>80% biomass reduction). For rest products, was obtained only dose–response greenhouse experiments. work demonstrates certain bioherbicide compounds manage herbicide-resistant species, bonariensis. Therefore, bioherbicides could successfully incorporated into IWM.
